Ingredients
Syrup
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tbsp orange flower water
  • 2 tsp fresh lemon juice
Pastry
  • 3 cups flour
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups yogurt
  • avocado oil for frying
Instructions
  1. Combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan . Simmer gently for 10 minutes. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Set aside.
  2. Combine all the remaining ingredients except for the oil. When the dough is thoroughly combined, turn out onto a floured surface and knead for 4 – 5 minutes.
  3. Heat the oil in a frying pan to 375 degrees. With a tablespoon, cut off a walnut-sized chunk of dough and fry until golden brown. Turn them over to brown them evenly. Do not crowd the doughnuts, as this will lower the temperature of the oil.
  4. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Immediately dunk the doughnuts into the syrup and remove to a serving dish.
