These are perfect portion sizes, easy to hold and eat while wandering about visiting. And you can put on lids and they’re ready to travel to a party, a picnic, for lunch, breakfast… what could be easier?

Ingredients
Fruit
  • 3 Apples cored and sliced into 8ths
  • 3 cups Oallieberries or blackberries*
  • ½ cup dried Montmorecy cherries
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp butter cut in small pieces
Topping
  • ½ cube unsalted butter melted
  • ¼ cup organic whole-wheat pastry flour
  • ¼ cup organic unbleached white flour
  • ½ cup organic rolled oats
  • pinch salt
  • ¼ cup sugar or local honey
  • ¼ cup walnuts chopped
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Gather Ingredients.

Fruit
  1. Mix the fruit together, stir in the flour and finally the honey. Butter ½ pint canning jars. Fill with fruit to ½” of the top. Top with little pieces of butter.
Topping
  1. Mix together the melted butter and sugar.
  2. Gently add the oats.
  3. Mix the ¼ cup whole wheat and white flours with the salt. Fold in the flour mixture into the oat mixture until all ingredients are coated. Finally stir in the chopped nuts.
  4. Spoon a few tablespoons of the topping over the fruit.

  5. Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes until the fruit is bubbling, juices thickening and the topping is a golden brown.
Recipe Notes

*Oallie berries are best and can be picked or purchased at Gizdich Ranch in Watsonville. If they are unavailable try boysenberries and black berries.
